POSITION SUMMARY

The Sports Medicine Director is responsible for coordinating outreach coverage of local events, promoting the sports medicine program to area physicians, coaches and athletic directors and managing the referrals generated by our sports medicine program. This position also includes part-time athletic training coverage at a local high school.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Develops relationships with area club administrators and athletic directors.
  • Responsible for coordinating care of injured athletes from covered events as applicable.
  • Arranges athletic training coverage for contracted events.
  • Maintains and updates sports medicine contracts and ensures billing and payment.
  • Oversight of contracted AT performance.
  • Maintains weekly and monthly records of all program referrals into clinics.
  • Establishes and maintains communication and levels of expectations with all athletic training staff.
  • In relation to covered events/clubs, will coordinate with marketing assistant for all social media coverage.
  • Provide athletic training coverage at a local contracted high school for up to 20 hours/week during the school year. Covered events will include practices and home games as discussed with the athletic director prior to the school year starting.
  • Be available to step into a PRN role in various AT settings as needed.
  • Stays up to date with emerging AT settings, protocols, standards of practice, and issues affecting the profession of athletic training.
  • Coordinate annual sports medicine AT meetings.
  • Responsible for maintaining AT equipment stock.
  • Responsible for attending all Club Contract Parent Meetings.
  • Pursues expansion of sports medicine program opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • AT License required.
  • Previous experience in an Athletic Training program preferred.
