SCHOOL COUNSELOR - Grades 6 to 8

Terms of Employment : Until the end of the current school year

Compensation: Pays up to $55 per hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities related to the Charter. Essential Responsibilities:

• Strong writing skills as well as communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task effectively
• Maintain a good rapport with all constituencies; students, parents and colleagues
• Strong communication (verbal, written, interpersonal) skills and leadership qualities

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be eligible or hold State of Delaware Certification as a School Counselor
• Master’s degree preferred; School Counseling; Certified School Counselor or experience as a school-based mental health provider
• A minimum of 2 yrs. counseling experience, school counseling experience is strongly preferred
• Experience with and commitment to working with Middle School-aged children on Grades 6 to 8, including an understanding of their developmental, social, and academic needs
• Proficient in Technology, Microsoft Office Applications, Children’s Educational Software etc.
• Demonstrates sensitivity to diversity issues impacting various cultural, ethnic and socioeconomic groups
• Shows evidence of knowledge regarding practices known to be effective in promoting student learning to increase student achievement
• Regular attendance is an essential function of the position
• A shared understanding of the mission of the School and a demonstrated commitment to the core principles of equity, inclusion and access
