Position Overview: Pulmonary Disease - Critical Care Physician

We are looking for a board-certified physician in pulmonary and critical care, with a focus on pulmonary hypertension, to join our esteemed pulmonary vascular disease program. This role encompasses both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities and includes clinical care, research participation, teaching, and contributions to quality improvement efforts. The position is based at our facility in Indianapolis, where advanced treatments such as ECMO and transplantation are offered, alongside collaboration with a prominent pulmonary vascular biology research team.

We invite applications from dedicated and skilled physicians trained in pulmonary and critical care, particularly those with expertise in pulmonary hypertension. Our multidisciplinary program is nationally recognized and provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic and therapeutic services for various types of pulmonary hypertension. In addition to medical treatments, we offer advanced therapies, including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and heart-lung transplantation. Our program is actively involved in numerous clinical trials sponsored by both the NIH and industry partners, supported by one of the largest pulmonary vascular biology research groups in the nation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in clinical care, research, and quality improvement initiatives focused on pulmonary hypertension.
  • Diagnose and manage patients with pulmonary hypertension and other complex pulmonary disorders in both inpatient and outpatient environments.
  • Deliver comprehensive pulmonary consultative and critical care services.
  • Educate patients and their families regarding treatment options and care strategies.
  • Split practice between outpatient services in the pulmonary hypertension clinic and inpatient care in the ICU.
  • Work location: Our facility in Indianapolis.
  • Academic appointment at the Indiana University School of Medicine, with opportunities for teaching.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Pulmonary and Critical Care, as well as board-certified in Internal Medicine.
