TCG is seeking an enthusiastic team member for a Project Engineer role for commercial construction projects. Preferred candidate should possess a minimum of 1+ year of commercial construction experience, estimating skills, understanding of all building trades materials and methods with a special emphasis on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing trades, strong written and verbal communication skills required. Most importantly we are seeking an individual who shares a passion for construction, faces challenges head-on and is driven by eagerness and curiosity.

Candidate will report to the Project Manager, Senior Project Manager or Project Executive and will be based at the TCG office or project site working directly with the Project Superintendent.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned on an individual basis.

  • Pre-construction
  1. Attend and coordinate project job walks
  2. Prepare Request for Proposals
  3. Analyze subcontractor proposals and generate Bid Tabulations as required
  4. Produce quantity take-offs for multiple disciplines

  • Safety
  1. Conduct daily project walks with Superintendent
  2. Work with Safety Director to establish Site Specific Safety Plans
  3. Coordinate and review Job Hazard Analysis and High Risk activities with Superintendent
  4. Monitor and prepare safety reports with Safety Director for individual client requirements

  • Contract Administration
  1. Draft Sub-contractor contracts for review by PM, SPM or PX
  2. Function as main point of contact with Subcontractor’s field and office personnel
  3. Review and prepare POs

  • Document Control
  1. Develop, track and manage RFIs & Submittals.
  2. Generate action item lists and follow-through to completion
  3. Coordinate and update Master Drawing Set and logs
  4. Distribute project drawings, addendums, design changes, RFIs, submittals and documentation to extended team
  5. Monitor and log 3rd party testing, project access and logistics plans
  6. Develop, track and manage punchlist items

  • Meetings
  1. Attend and contribute in weekly Owner, Architect and Contractor meetings
  2. Present RFI, Submittal and Change Order Logs
  3. Prepare and distribute meeting minutes and project documents to extended team

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering preferred
  • Minimum of 1+ year of commercial construction experience preferred
  • Flexible with ability to manage multiple tasks/projects concurrently
  • Resourceful, with respect to problem identification and resolution
  • Able to operate in a fast paced working environment with minimal direction from Senior Management.
  • LEED certification is preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, PlanGrid.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • OSHA certification is preferred
  • Ability to travel to and work from TCG office in San Jose or assigned job sites
