WellMed, part of the Optum family of businesses, is seeking an adaptable Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant  to join our Practice Support Unit team.  The role involves travel and hands-on work in rural communities across El Paso, TX and southwest New Mexico.  Optum is a clinician-led care organization that is changing the way clinicians work and live.

Position Highlights:

\n

\n
• See patients in different clinics as well as home, telemedicine, and mobile visits
\n
• 50-75% travel with overnight stays in rural locations, including but not limited to Deming, Lordsburg, Silver City, and Truth or Consequences in New Mexico
\n
• Practice in collaboration with our Contracted and Affiliated WellMed physicians, their advance practice clinicians, and their clinic staff
\n
• Collaborate to provide a comprehensive, coordinated model of care to a mostly Medicare-aged population on a Medicare Advantage Plan
\n
• Educate providers on proper coding, risk adjustment metrics, capturing documentation, and adhering to quality protocols
\n
• Assure safe transitions of care from the inpatient setting to home
\n
• Interview patients to ensure proper documentation and to ensure all preventative screenings have been complete  
\n

Required Qualifications:

\n

\n
• Certification through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

\n
• Current Licensure through the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners OR Licensed Physician Assistant by the Texas State Medical Board

\n
• Valid DEA license or the ability to obtain one prior to employment

\n
• Comfortable managing a primarily Medicare-aged patient population

\n
• 1+ year of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
\n
• Valid driver's license
\n

\n

Preferred Qualifications:

\n

\n
• Familiarity with primary care and chronic condition codes 

\n
• A working understanding and support of a managed care environment

\n
• Bilingual (English/Spanish)
\n
