Job Description

We are working with a nationwide law firm known for its collaborative culture and work-life balance to add a Litigation Paralegal or Legal Assistant to their team. This person will support various labor and employment attorneys out of their Laguna Hills office.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares legal documents for state and federal courts, including discovery, motions, pleadings, and related filings; manages electronic submissions across various court platforms, including appellate.
  • Drafts and edits legal correspondence and memoranda, often independently; experienced with employment litigation workflows and practice-specific enclosures.
  • Reviews and formats documents to meet court rules and professional standards.
  • Manages attorney calendars, tracks deadlines, and ensures key dates are met.
  • Opens and maintains case files, reviews for closure, and organizes for digital archiving.
  • Maintains professionalism and confidentiality when greeting clients and visitors.
  • Coordinates meetings and travel arrangements; may assist with time entry and billing.
  • Supports a busy team environment by handling administrative tasks such as scanning, filing, phones, and expense management.
  • Responds promptly to communications, ensuring timely follow-up and professionalism.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum five years of civil litigation experience in a law firm; background in labor and employment law strongly preferred.
  • Skilled in preparing legal documents from drafts or minimal direction; preferred typing speed of 70+ WPM.
  • Excellent proofreading, grammar, and formatting skills; capable of basic math for document calculations and maintaining organized records.
  • Strong time management and multitasking abilities; works well under pressure with limited supervision.
  • Detail-oriented and proactive in completing assignments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and comparable legal tools.
  • Knowledgeable in court filing procedures, including CM/ECF and other electronic platforms.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally with clients, attorneys, and team members in all settings to provide excellent customer service - even under pressure.
