Job Title: Category Manager - Indirect Procurement

Location: Cary, NC (Hybrid schedule)

Start Date: ASAP

Job Type: Direct Hire

Pay Rate: $110-120k

As a Category Manager - Indirect Procurement, you will lead strategic sourcing initiatives across a diverse portfolio of indirect spend categories. These may include Human Resources, Professional Services, Information Technology (IT), Marketing, Facilities, Travel, Fleet, Real Estate, Financial Services, Legal, and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO). You"ll collaborate with senior stakeholders to influence decision-making, optimize supplier performance, and drive long-term value creation. This role is ideal for a procurement professional with broad category expertise, strong business acumen, and a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead high-impact sourcing projects across a range of spend categories, from strategy development through contract execution.
• Serve as a strategic advisor to senior business leaders, aligning procurement initiatives with functional and enterprise-wide goals.
• Develop and implement multi-year category strategies that deliver cost savings, innovation, and risk mitigation.
• Conduct advanced spend analysis, supplier market assessments, and benchmarking to inform sourcing decisions.
• Negotiate complex contracts and commercial terms, ensuring alignment with legal, financial, and operational requirements.
• Manage supplier relationships for critical vendors, including performance reviews, issue resolution, and continuous improvement planning.
• Collaborate with Finance, Legal, and Compliance to ensure procurement activities meet internal controls and regulatory standards.
• Support the growth and development of team members through mentorship, collaboration, and sharing of procurement best practices
• Drive process optimization and digital transformation initiatives to enhance procurement efficiency and visibility.
• Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to proactively adapt sourcing strategies and maintain competitive advantage.
• Partner with senior leaders across HR, IT, Marketing, Finance, Legal, and other business functions to shape procurement strategies and support organizational objectives.
• Collaborate with global and regional procurement teams to align category strategies and leverage synergies.
• Work with Legal and Compliance to ensure contract integrity and risk management.
• Lead engagement with strategic suppliers and service providers to ensure performance, innovation, and long-term value delivery.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, or a related field
• 3-5 years of experience in procurement or sourcing, with demonstrated expertise across a variety of spend categories.
• Proven track record of leading complex sourcing initiatives and negotiating high-value contracts
• Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and procurement systems (e.g., SAP Ariba, Coupa, Oracle)
• Excellent communication and influencing skills across all organizational levels

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience developing category strategies and managing supplier performance
• Experience in global and or cross-functional environments
• Familiarity with contract lifecycle management and supplier performance frameworks
• Procurement certification (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) is a plus
